FAQ
-
Q: Are you licensed?A: Currently, Little Explorers of Stonehaven operates as a legally unlicensed Family Day Home. For added peace of mind, I am happy to provide copies of background checks for myself and household members.
-
Q: What are your hours of operation?A: Childcare services are open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Each child’s allotted care hours are outlined in their enrollment contract. Depending on availability, extended care may be available. Please note that we are closed for all Federal holidays and various other days throughout the year. Notice is provided for all planned closures.
-
Q: What ages do you care for?A: I primarily accept children aged 6 weeks to 4 years old in our regular programs. Due to my commitment to maintaining a low child-to-caregiver ratio, spaces are limited to ensure each child receives individualized attention and care. Additionally, I offer "date night" services occasionally, which cater to children aged 6 weeks to 4 years old, providing parents with a convenient and trusted option for childcare during special evenings.
-
Q: Where are you located?A: We are located in Jeffersonton, VA, in the Stonehaven neighborhood off Route 211. The exact address is given to enrolled members for security. After enrollment, you'll receive detailed location info.
-
How do you communicate with parents throughout the day?I utilize an app called DailyConnect to keep parents updated! On this app, I post pictures, videos, and any important updates you may need. Parents are expected to check the app regularly for communication.

What does a typical day look like? Our daily routine includes free play, arts & crafts, structured learning activities, meals/snacks, outdoor play, and rest time.
-
How do you handle discipline?I use positive reinforcement, redirection, and role modeling to encourage appropriate behavior. “Time-out” is only used sparingly and in an age-appropriate manner.
-
Will my child watch TV?Television is used minimally during transitional periods and only for interactive or educational programs.
-
Q: What if my child has food allergies?A: I take allergies seriously and have policies in place to ensure your child’s safety. Please inform us of any dietary restrictions upon enrollment.
-
Q: Are meals and snacks included in tuition?A: Yes! I am committed to providing well-balanced and nutritious meals. I offer breakfast, lunch, and snacks. Each meal is prepared with fresh, high-quality ingredients.

-
Do you have security measures in place?Yes, security cameras are used in the home (excluding the bathroom) for liability purposes. Parents will not have access to footage, but it may be reviewed if necessary. Additionally, all adults who reside in the household are background checked according to state standards.
